In that effort, it is necessary to expand the concept of GDP, the commonly used method for the evaluation of economic performance, and take into account components relevant to well-being and sustainability in the measurements.<br \/>\nThis challenging endeavour is supported by an open letter, prepared under the auspices of Yale University and signed by 65 well-known figures. The signatories emphasise to the addressed <a href=\"https:\/\/www.un.org\/en\/beyondGDP\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Expert Group appointed by the UN Secretary General<\/a> that for managing national wealth properly, natural capital has to be accounted for in the measuring system, and every component that contributes to our well-being.<br \/>\nThe open letter reinforces many of the <a href=\"https:\/\/kekbolygoalapitvany.hu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/kutatas_fenntarthatosag_WSF202411.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">findings<\/a> of the workgroup organised by the Hungarian Academy of Sciences and the Blue Planet Climate Protection Foundation, whose research results were presented <a href=\"https:\/\/kekbolygoalapitvany.hu\/en\/news\/new-methodology-to-measure-sustainability-transition-janos-ader-at-the-word-science-forum\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">by J\u00e1nos \u00c1der<\/a> at the World Science Forum 2024 Conference in Budapest.<br \/>\nCsaba K\u0151r\u00f6si, former President of the UN General Assembly and Strategic Director of the Blue Planet Climate Protection Foundation, has also signed the document.<br \/>\nThe entire letter can be <a href=\"https:\/\/kekbolygoalapitvany.hu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/20260130-Open-letter-in-support-of-a-wealth-approach_final.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">downloaded here<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This year, member states of the UN are working on coming up with a solution on how to measure sustainable development, aiding economic and social decision-making.
