Discussion and Cooperation in Banja Luka

March ended eventfully for TEX-DAN; the latest meeting of the project that addresses the environmental challenges of the textile industry took place on March 24–25, hosted by the Development Agency of Serbia. On the occasion of the event, held in Banja Luka, Bosnia, all partners of the TEX-DAN project came together, including staff from the Blue Planet Climate Protection Foundation and representatives of TEX-DAN’s sister project, Green-TEX. During the meeting, the leadership of the two programs signed a cooperation agreement.
“Textile production and the industry as a whole are facing a global crisis, and the increasing amount of textile waste poses a serious problem. We must intensify our joint efforts in textile recycling,” said Zoltán Bendó, project manager of TEX-DAN.
Marica Berić, head of department at the Development Agency of Serbia, says the project’s goal is to support SMEs in adopting new technologies and knowledge, thereby improving their business operations. In addition, the cooperation plays a key role in ensuring that policy changes increasingly promote the transition to a circular economy.
Supported by the Interreg Danube Region Programme, the TEX-DAN project involves 14 partners from 11 countries – including the Blue Planet Climate Protection Foundation – and another 7 associated partners. This pioneering initiative identifies the key regional challenges and best practices in the textile and fashion industry and develops solutions to propose and potential models for implementing a circular economy.
