Csaba Kőrösi: Sustainability transition requires an efficient institutional architecture
Csaba Kőrösi emphasised the key role of science amid the intensifying geopolitical competition at the Global Knowledge Dialogue conference. This year’s convent was organised at the end of January in Muscat, Oman, as an initiative of the Global Scientific Council (ISC). The Foundation’s strategic director, also a former President of the UN General Assembly, delivered the keynote speech in the forum, stressing the need to identify projects for the Pact for the Future, adopted by the UN in September 2024.
This document covers a broad range of important issues, including peace and security, sustainable development, climate change, digital cooperation, human rights, youth and future generations, and the transformation of global governance. Csaba Kőrösi stressed that for the Pact for the Future to result in effective measures, we need to identify projects, select priorities, and identify the actors and platforms of cooperation.
The strategic director of the Blue Planet Foundation emphasised that we need a sustainable transition, and that requires an efficient institutional architecture.
The International Scientific Council (ISC) regularly organises events that provide a platform for observing the key issues regarding the intersection of science and society and science and politics. Csaba Kőrösi was elected as a fellow in 2023. This year’s meeting was hosted by the Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation of Oman.
