Study Tour, Budapest

Following the two-day program in Vienna, the Study Tour continued in Budapest from June 15th. The delegation was hosted by the The Blue Planet Foundation. Budapest program of the study tour primarily focused on waste management technologies related to the EPR system, allowing participants to familiarize themselves with these aspects.

First, they visited the waste management subsidiary of the ALTEO Group, FE-Group, where they were introduced to the recycling technology for electronic waste. Within the framework of the extended producer responsibility system, electronic waste (WEEE) constitutes a vital segment, as the rapidly advancing technology of today leads to a significant increase in the presence of these materials in waste streams.

At the second Budapest location, the delegation had the opportunity to witness the operation of the latest development by the city’s municipal waste management company (BKM – FKF Nzrt.), the Waste Sorting Plant Budapest. This facility, which utilizes Best Available Technology (BAT), sorts the selectively collected waste from nearly 2 million city residents, providing invaluable insights to the Macedonian delegation. The participants had the chance to observe every technological element of the system and received extensive information from the hosts about the operation’s intricacies.

On June 16th, 2023, the delegation from North Macedonia traveled back to Skopje, concluding their study tour.
